Screening employees in education

It is important to know who you are hiring, but this is even more important in education. Employees in education have an important role in our society and they work on the basis of good faith from parents. Therefore, it is important to know who you are hiring.

Employment screening is the solution.

Screening teachers in education

When you screen each employee, their provided information undergoes thorough accuracy checks. Things that can be screened for are:

  • Identity
  • Trustworthiness
  • Verification of the CV

This ensures that you know precisely who you are hiring or who is already working for you. Validata definitely recommends regular screening. A lot can change in your employees’ private lives. By having your employees screened regularly, you will know about the important changes in their lives that can affect your organisation.

Screening in the education sector

Teacher competence requirements

Since 2017, statutory competence requirements have been set in place for all teachers working or intending to work in primary and secondary education. These describe the minimum knowledge and qualifications required. As an employer, it is important to know what these entail and how you should respond to them.

Examples of competence requirements

These are some examples of competence requirements:

  • Education and diplomas
  • Professional knowledge
  • Pedagogical skills
  • Communication skills
  • Didactic skills

VOG education

Besides teachers having to be competent, they also have a role model function for students and parents rely on them. This is why a certificate of conduct (VOG) is compulsory in education. To apply for a VOG, it is checked whether someone has been in contact with the law for a criminal offence or has committed other offences that could affect the performance of the teaching job.
