What is pre-employment screening? Pre-employment screening, also known as PES screening, screening involves the verification of relevant candidate or employee data, ensuring the best possible hire for a certain position. With pre employment screening, you know who you are recruiting and retaining in your organisation!

Research has shown that 71% of all CVs contain falsehoods, which have either been deliberately or unwittingly included. Of this, 8 to 10% are complete lies purposely placed on CVs. If you are looking for new employees, you need to be sure that their CV information is accurate.

Pre-employment screening service

We work together with trusted partners, including Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO), and we use digital integrations to quickly verify the information directly at the source. Identity check

Validata checks the authenticity of the identity document, both on a national and an international level.

Validata checks the work experience of a (potential) employee. An appointed referee or HR department is approached to verify the period of employment, stated position, and employer.

Validata provides a statement with integrity questions about any ongoing criminal cases and secondary functions and activities. This statement must be answered truthfully and signed by the (potential) employee.

Validata checks the registration in a Political Exposed Persons list (PEP list) or sanctions list. In addition, Validata checks whether a (potential) employee is negatively mentioned in (international) media sources.

Pre-employment screening with Validata

Validata works with an innovative screening solution, in which new candidates can easily be registered 24/7. All you need to do is submit a candidate’s name and contact details. Validata then contacts the candidate and asks them to provide the required information. Once we have received their information, we start verifying the data. We keep both parties informed throughout the process.


Our partners and integrations allow us to quickly verify the candidate’s data. Our screening within the Netherlands is completed on average within 5 working days. The Criminal background check is not included in this timeframe because we depend on the speed of the candidate and the turnaround time of the municipality. To avoid any delay in the screening process, Validata creates a preliminary screening report that can be assessed. Once the screening is fully complete, the candidate and organisation will receive a final pre employment screening report. In doing so, Validata ensures a fast, convenient and transparent process for both parties.

How does the screening process work?

Step 1: Log in
Fill in your personal username and password
Step 2: Screening profile
Select the correct screeningsprofile for this candidate
Step 3: Details candidate
Enter the details of the candidate
Step 4: Person is being screened
Candidate receives an email with log-in details and request to partake in their own background screening.
Step 5: Start screening
Validata will process the screening and do all the actual background checks.
Step 6: Screening complete
Both you and the candidate will receive a message that the screening report is complete and ready to download.
